My day in San Francisco

Sorry for my lack of blog yesterday but I was on the road for most of the day.

Yesterday we got up and left our motel in Mersed and set of to San Francisco not forgetting to mention the fact I went to my first starbucks drive through. So we got to Berkeley and we spent about two hours looking around for a shop called marmot but finally when we were too hungry we pulled over and went to just the American equivalent of a decathlon. As we were paying we asked the lady behind the till were the marmot shop was and she told us that it had been shut down since march!

After that we went to pick up des and ben at the airport and had a black bear diner burger and the man. Sitting next to us has a plate size taco!!

I think the plan is we're climbing on Monday once des has a permit.

Here's a picture of me below el cap

Picking up BBC

Spent the night down in Merced so we could pick up BBC today from the airport. Got to sit in a motel, eat Mexican and watch men in black. Feeling very tired as its so hot once you get down from the mountains. Can't wait to get back to Yosemite.

My day with paul

Dad went up with Aldo to fix some ropes on the route. They were meant to climb up to pitch 5 but only climbed to pitch 2! It was dead hot so they looked really sweaty when they got back to the tent.

I wanted to go on the climb but the BBC said I couldn't until they were their to film me ( because they want to film my initial reaction).

Instead I did maths homework with paul and did some climbing.

Must be tired as I fell asleep in tent at 4pm, but you get up dead early here (dawn).

Going to go out if valley with dad tomorrow to pick up BBC cameramen. He wants to get me loads of white clothes so I stay cool on the climb. He also promises to sort out some photos for my blog.

Funny thing today was seeing a man playing monopoly with his kids who looked like Kim Jong Young - but he didn't look "so lonely"

Another hot one

Not much to report today. Is very hot so my dad is keeping me out of the sun until I get used to it.

Paul and Aldo went up to start the route but we can't start properly until the film people come. Dad says we have to take a lot of water.

Went climbing this morning and did a two pitch route. The rock here is very slippy and we abseiled down. My feet hurt but only because I got stung by a wasp!

Saw a peregrine falcon when I was belaying my dad.

Hope to have more to report tomorrow.

In the Valley

Have arrived in Yosemite after a 9 hour flight and 5 hours in the car. Got to bed at what would be 4 in the morning in English time, so was really tired. Still haven't got my head around time difference. My dad kept pocking me and wouldn't let me sleep until I got there because he said I had to go to sleep in US time.

Slept in a tipi with Alastair, paul and dad. They tried to show me Elcap in the dark but by the time we got to Yosemite I had slightly lost the will to live and could only vaguely make it out.

So we woke up the next day to find that we had no food so sadly (not that sad) so we had to go to my first american diner. We're I had a massive waffle with about a cup full syrup on. Even thought I didn't ask for a pancake but I think the man was to confused with my English accent.

After that we spent most of the day walking around Yosemite seeing the sights and a bit of slack lining and hammocking.

Saw Elcap today and its BIG!!! I'm really exited to start climbing the sooner the better.

Will post photos soon

Funniest thing today: made paul drink some milk that was off.

Cutest thing: saw a squirrel lying on its tummy crawling
